Second day in a row that a completely empty blog follows me. I gave it a grace period yesterday to see if maybe something gets added later that would show a human being operating it which didn't happen (big surprise), and now that this happened again I'm going to assume it's just another kind of bot and those will be blocked on sight.

Here's another reminder for new users to put something on your blog to show people you follow that you are a human being!💫

If your blog is empty, people are going to assume you're a bot and block you!

PLEASE AT LEAST REBLOG ONE SINGULAR THING IF YOURE GOING TO REFUSE TO CHANGE YOUR PFP, BANNER, AND/OR BLOG TITLE FROM THE DEFAULT. YOU WILL GET BLOCKED.

dear new accounts, here's a few tips to live happily here!

1. to avoid getting blocked on sight, set a profile picture! it can be your favourite character (if it's a fanart, credit the artist in your bio), a picture of your pet, of the sky, of some pretty flowers, of yourself even- but select something!

2. add a bio with age and pronouns at least; to be even less suspicious, add what you're into, like the name of some anime, singer, tv show or something. many users block accs whose age isn't stated. yes, you may put a false age, but that's your own responsibility.

3. reblog posts that reflect your interests. i personally block blogs with only 2-3 rbs because i still think they could be bots.

4. block bots and report them as spam! even pornbots have to be reported as spam, not as sexual content. followers don't matter here, so block and report bots immediately.

5. put tags diligently and accordingly. don't add random tags hoping to get more followers, you'll just get reported and blocked. e.g. if you write something about a specific singer, don't tag every other singer on earth unless they are mentioned in your post. also, commas aren't allowed in tags, tumblr will automatically split your tag into two. and if you want to report direct speech, hit two apostrophes instead, or the thing between quotes will become the first visible tag in your post.

5. use the filter function to avoid bad experiences. tagging is important here so if you filter the right tags, you should be ok (mostly).

6. don't use the "i'm a minor!!" excuse if you are being a bitch, because you will get dragged nonetheless. we all assume that users here are mature enough to behave decently.

7. all words are allowed here, you don't need to write "unalive" instead of "kill", "st4b" instead of "stab", etc.

8. if you receive a nasty anon message, click on the three dots you see in the little message square- you will be able to block that person from sending you anons ever again. you can also entirely disable the anon option, if you want to.

9. back on the tags issue, if you have a slow phone and/or slow internet, you should filter the #gifs tag. i don't think this is still a problem, but when i first joined tumblr in 2016 or something, the app used to crash every time i encountered a heavy gifset.

Just a reminder esp with the bot flood, be sure to turn on “Only allow messages from Tumblrs you follow” in your blog settings. If you’re getting messages and don’t want to even give the bots the time just block them in your blog settings and poof they go. Don’t forget to chip in the bot-war and report their clunky robotic ass.

i havent seen someone make a post on these before so i just wanted to warn people in case they encounter this

this is my second time receiving almost this exact ask from another random blog, clearly made 3 days ago (shown in pic three) with about 7 posts to it to make it look ‘real’ if you’re not willing to scroll down far enough.

there are many legitimate donation posts that deserve your attention, and these sorts of blogs are not them. i just block and delete but im sure you can report or whatever if you want.

My blog is welcome to new tumblr users. However, please, for the love of god, reblog some posts, or at least like posts at the very least before following, well, anyone. You will look like a bot. Plus, there are users who don't like fake follows, and curate who's following them. I was one of those people, and I still want to be, but I know we are kind of having a bit of growth right now, so I want to be nice, at least for a while.

Just, please, if you really want to be welcomed on this site, look like you want to be here by interacting with the environment.

I think we can welcome twitter users, but ONLY if they agree to play by tumblr rules.

1) Reblog fucking everything, especially arts

2) Mind your business (aka just block people, who post disturbing for you content, overcanceling culture is not welcomed here)

3) Be weird, no one cares, go wild and be proud

4) We are not obsessing over ccs’ accounts here, they mostly just exist among us and we sometimes scatter like rats when new ccs show up, just to be back with maid outfit arts of them

5) Be respectful (I think this one should go without saying)

6) Change your timeline settings to chronological

7) Don’t obsess over subscriber count. Literally nobody sees it other than you. Some of the posts with hundreds of notes you will see are coming from very small accounts actually

8) Don’t be afraid to send asks to people you find interesting, if they have asks open!

9) When you reblog something, put most of your comments in the tags. It’s not obligatory ofc, but just know it’s an option that people usually use, if what they are saying is not necessarily substantial

For the love of God will new people PLEASE change their default avatars? I don't care what picture you put (so long as it's not a picture of a woman because those are often bots) but change it

ESPECIALLY if you have numbers in your username and ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY if you have a real name+numbers because all of that just screams bot

I've probably blocked at least a few real people because they don't post or reblog anything and follow me without any sign they've ever even seen content from me
